Sal Shmeit is a passionate and dedicated lawyer with a strong academic foundation in both business and law. She earned her Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Business Economics and Law, at the University of Alberta before pursuing her legal studies at the University of Leicester, where she developed the knowledge and advocacy skills that continue to guide her today. During her time in Law School, she was the Senior Academic and Career Officer for the University of Leicester Canadian Law Society. Upon graduation, Sal was the recipient of the leadership award for pro bono and law society work.

Sal has a genuine passion for Criminal Law and is committed to providing thoughtful, strategic, and compassionate representation to her clients. She understands that navigating the criminal justice system can be one of the most challenging experiences in a person’s life and strives to ensure every client receives clear guidance, strong advocacy, and dedicated support throughout the legal process.

In addition to her criminal law, Sal assists clients with Wills and Estates, helping individuals and families protect their assets and plan for the future with confidence. She believes that careful estate planning provides peace of mind and is committed to delivering practical, personalized legal solutions tailored to each client’s unique circumstances.

Sal is extremely meticulous and puts much thought and care into all aspects of her career. She analyses things from all angles in order to ensure she is giving her absolute best to her clients. Known for her professionalism, integrity, and client focused approach; Sal works to achieve the best possible outcomes while building trusted relationships with those she serves.

Sal is also pursuing her Master of Laws (LLM) at Osgoode Hall Law School. Sal is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA), the Edmonton Bar Association (EBA), the Criminal Lawyers Association (CLA), the Canadian Bar Association, and Women in Canadian Criminal Defence (WiCCD).
